Damn! That was strange.

I went to a surgical center to get a quick epidural shot---I thought. These fuckers pulled off ALL my clothes---put in an IV in a vein in my hand, then knocked me completely fucking out for about an hour. I woke up in recovery higher than hell. My wife drove me home as I giggled and rambled. I fell asleep for six hours and woke up in some sort of a foggy hangover. I am supposed to bed rest for the next two days and not be sitting or lifting. Nobody told me all this shit was going to happen. I actually thought I could get a 1/2 days work in. I have to do it all again in 2 weeks, and then every 6 to 8 weeks afterwards. FUN STUFF. Someone should have told me! Oh--the valium wore off during the long nap---what a rip.

I better get back to resting. I will read all the bloggs Monday.

Campaign Slow Down

Sorry folks for not blogging. In the tradition of Kennedy I am having back trouble and cannot sit at the computer long. I had an MRI Monday and I'm getting some kind of combination shot of cortisone and an epidural (SPELLING?) on Friday. They tell me I should be good to go in a few days. I get a valium before the procedure! YIPEE!!!

Give Me A Tax Break

I used to work for H&R Block. We would have to attend school every year to find out how much more fucked up the tax laws became. I don't know how it got so damn complicated, but the madness must stop! American's shouldn't need a computer and a $40.00 program to pay the IRS more money.

A high school graduate should be able to do his or hers taxes with a calulator and pen. That should be the litmus test for the new tax code.

However, the ones who seem to find the loop-holes are the richest and poorest. As a tax-preparer I have seen two grown people with the same address, two incomes, and two children file separate returns, each claiming a child so they could get more earned income tax credit. For those of you who may not know--Earned Income Tax Credit is a way for folks to get more of a refund then they paid in. A refund is supposed to mean "amount overpaid." Yet people like this could easily pay in ZERO and walk away with a two or three thousand dollar refund by saying they were single parents supporting one child each with a household income of $18,000.00 instead of being a married couple, with two kids, making $36,000.00 a year.

The working folks of America need a tax code that will reward and encourage working. The current code is great if you are a trust fund baby or a person looking for UN-EARNED INCOME. We need a change from the two party system in 2008.
